Winter always feels like a dull season in terms of fashion. There’s not much colour and I’m constantly hiding in baggy coats. I often feel like I’m in a bit of a slump, whether it’s with my fashion or just day to day life. It’s cold, dark and wet and everyone’s mood seems to drop. Now honestly I do spend a lot of time in comfy clothes, like leggings, trackies and hoodies. Comfort is key! But when I’m heading out I do like to make an effort with my outfit, or at least make it look I have! If you’re looking for wearable fashion inspo this winter then look no further, you’re in the right place!
Big Fluffy Coats
Coat – Miss Selfridge
Cosy coats are essential at this time of year and this baby is constantly with me. Big and fluffy, perfect for the miserable English weather. I don’t tend to buy many coats, but when I do I always make sure it’s good quality in order to last me a while. Now let me tell you I don’t think I’ve ever loved a coat more, I honestly wear this with everything. Trackies, jeans or even a skirt, anything goes!
Jumpers are a must during this season and the bigger the better. I’m all about the oversized style, warm and cute a win win. In the sales I recently brought a jumper from All Saints. Which full price would probably not be something I would splurge on, but at £30 I couldn’t say no. And wow this jumper has really convinced me it’s worth spending a bit more from time to time. The quality is something else, I know this is going to last me seasons upon seasons.
Jumper – All saints (old season)
You may notice that throughout this post my wardrobe tends to lose a lot of colour during the winter. I find myself gravitating towards neutrals and ditching anything with a hint of colour. Neutral tones, are perfect for the season and a great staple in your wardrobe to rewear and restyle. I love using them to layer, making it look like you’ve put a lot more effort into your outfit than you really have.
Another item that makes it look like I’ve put a hell of a lot of effort into my outfit. When in reality I had probably overslept and was running late! Blazers are a real trend right now and can be styled in anyway. I love paring one with jeans and heels for a chic business look. Or alternatively, with wide leg trousers and chunky trainers for a casual look.
Yes you read that right? Dresses in winter! There’s nothing I feel more confident in than a dress, so you bet that means I’ll find a way to wear them this season too. This time of year long sleeved dresses, and knee high boots are my only hope to get through the cold. I was never really a fan of knee high boots, but I’m officially converted. I don’t think I’ll be taking these off any time soon.
