How I’m becoming more positive & confident

Confidence is something that I am always focused on growing. In my eyes you can never have too much confident. If I am honest I am NOT the most confident person at all but my confidence has really grown in the last few months. I still have bad days where I hate everything about myself but as a whole I am feeling a lot better.

Stop Comparing yourself. I always use to compare myself to everyone. Always wanting to look like them and be like them but in fact I can never be them because I am me. Striving to be someone else will never end in positivity because its unachievable.  Instead of comparing myself to others I am now working on becoming the best version of myself I can.  Everyone is different and that is something I find some key about confidence. We all have different shapes and all suit different things, embrace your own skin and remember there is only one you.

Stop carrying what people say. Everyone has an opinion and there’s not much you can do it about it. Quite frankly not everyone is going to like you and neither is everyone going to be nice. As much as that sucks it’s true, you can’t please everyone. Instead of focusing on what others think about you, focus on how you feel about yourself. Pleasing people was something I always thought about, I was more concentrated on what people thought about me rather than what I thought about myself.

Cut out the negativity. If someone drags you down then remove them from your life. If you hate your job then quit. Do things that you enjoy and things that make you happy, there’s no point being stuck unhappy when you are in control of changing it. Negativity is something that will always be there, we can’t have perfect positive lives. Add more positives into your life and start to realise you are in control.

Look after yourself. A goods night sleep, healthy eating and exercise are all so important. You don’t need to crash diet or do numerous gym sessions a week but doing simple things to help look after your body will immediately make you feel better. Self care is so important, giving yourself a healthy but realisitic life style really makes a difference. Still allow yourself to have little treats as we all need them from time to time!

Do something that makes you feel good. For me it could be putting on some fake tan because being tanned just makes you feel 10x better about yourself. Exercise is another important thing for me, it really does release those endorphins. If I exercise for a few days I start to feel confident and happier, obviously there’s no change to my body but I start to feel more confident. Maybe pamper yourself for a day or wear your favourite outfit that makes you feel so good.

  1. I love this post so much Harriet! We need to care less about others and more about ourselves, you go and lather yourself in the deepest tan girl and stare at yourself in the mirror, like dayuuummm I look good.

    Self routine is so important for our mental health too, like it’s really true what they say, that a healthy mind starts with a healthy inside derived from good food, nutrition and SLEEP!

  5. You look so beautiful! Condfidence is something I’ve been working on for so long and like you said one thing that helps a lot is to stop comparing myself to others, it’s definitely harder than it seems though x

  6. I loved reading this! I can totally relate. I am still working on my confidence and I don’t think I will ever be 100% confident but it is something I am working on all of the time! Cutting out negativity and people who brought me down worked a treat also! Fabulous post. Xx

  9. Stopping comparing myself against others and learning to care a little less in general are both things I’ve been trying to do and I’ve found that make a big difference. It’s a constant WIP really to increase confidence, so I’m glad you’re taking positive steps towards it too! Great tips 🙂
