Maintaining work load and a Social Life

For those of you that don’t already know I am a Uni Student. I’m only in my first year so things aren’t too stressful yet but I still like to work hard and achieve the best grades I can. I would honestly say I had more work during my A levels and I know I’ve got a lot more to come. However right now I feel as if I have a great balance between them all.

Blogging, Uni work, socialising along with cooking and cleaning can all be a lot to fit in to ones schedule. It’s a little hard to know what to prioritise or how to balance everything out. Right now Uni work is always on top of my list, this is something I must do. Right now I haven’t been too up to date with my blog so I tend to but that on hold until I get some creative ideas going.

Plan

Planning is something I tend to do a lot, as much as spontaneity is great I love to have things planned and organised. Quite often I have the same weekly schedule. I have the days I like to do my work and the days I will spend with friends or just relaxing. This way I make sure on my ‘working’ days I actually get stuff done.

When you have deadlines coming up, planning is so beneficial. I must admit I am often a little organised with my deadlines and start my essays quite early, but avoiding last minute stress is one of the best things. Starting early can be quite boring and basically a lot of effort, but when I only do small amounts every now and again, it gives me a lot more thinking time and completely avoids me trying to cram everything into one week.

Lectures

Going to every lecture/lesson is so important. I try and go to all of mine. Yes sometimes it may be a little pointless if they just read of the slides, but instead of telling yourself you’ll get it done in your own time just go. Going will force you to learn and actually do the work, rather than putting it off to do some other time. Listening to someone talk about the subject also makes it so much easier to learn. Something I need to work on is my concentration as often the last half hour I tend to switch off and find myself scrolling through my twitter feed, oooops!

Socialising

Socialising and having time off from working is key. You can’t work and work all day, so having a break is important. It allows you to relax and recharge those batteries. Even if you don’t have the opportunity/time to go out and do something with your friends you still should take a break from working.

Do you have any study tips?

  1. I am currently doing my second year in Uni and it’s crazy!! There’s too much work but scheduling posts really helps, every weekend try and write a post or two. Fortunately (or unfortunately) for me I only have my partner to socialise with. Kinda lost friends when I stopped going out and started blogging so my life is more calm now and I usually get time to blog and read blogs ๐Ÿ˜Šโค

  2. I’m so not looking forward to my exams but like you said, I prioritise my uni work the most because that’s my focus right now. Just uni itself! I do find it hard to focus on blogging and everything else but after the first year of uni is done, I think I’ll have a lot of time to focus on myself. We are literally the same person, I hate leaving work till the last minute and like to start my essays weeks before it’s due in! x

    1. I’m glad I’m not the only one, everyone always makes a joke at me for starting them but when they are stressed the whole week it’s due who’s really winning?๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’›

  3. I find it really hard to balance college, work, blogging and a social life so will definitely take some tips from this! Planning my time is what I usually do! X
