Beautys Faves and Fails

Recently there has been quite a few products that I’ve re found my love in and equally a few products that I’ve been quite disappointing by.

FAVES

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara £19

If you are looking for a decent mascara look no further. I am honestly so in love with this mascara and I never want to use anything else again. My previous one ran out and I was using a few different mascara until I decided to repurchase it. Going back to it really made me realise how good it was. It makes your lashes look long and thick without them looking clumpy. Honestly can’t fault this product at  all.

Soap and Glory Supercat liquid eyeliner £6

This I’ve neglected for a while. I used it a couple of times and thought it was alright but I stuck to my L’oreal super liner. My l’oreal liner then started to run a little low so I started t use this one more. Every time I use it it just gets better and better. The best thing about this is the fact that the nip is thin so you can get a precises application but it’s so strong so it doesn’t bend making it super easy to use. If your no eyeliner expert like me this is the perfect eyeliner to use.

Mac Velvet Teddy £16.50

Being macs most hyped lipstick ever I finally decided it was time I got it, and trust me you will not be disappointed. Mac formulas are one of the best and this is no exception. The colour is so versatile and can be worn for any occasion. This lipstick is perfect for anyone that’s not too comfortable wearing lipstick and is a great shade to start off with.

NYX Liquid Suede Sandstorm £6.50

Nyx have been killing the lip game for so long now and the one product I hadn’t tried was their Liquid Suede’s. I decided to get the colour sandstorm, which has a brownish tone. This is not the cololur I tend to use however I really really like it. It’s not too much and compliments pretty much any eye shadow.  The finish is matte and I find it lasts a good few hours before having to top it up.

FAILS

Revolution Ultra Strobe Balm Palette £8

In my eyes makeup Revolution is one of the best drugstore brands at the moment, their prices are great and most often their quality insane. But this one just didn’t do it for me. When you swatch it on your arm they look so insanely pigmented but some how when I put it on my face it just disappears and also  removes my foundation. I keep trying and trying with this palette but I just don’t get anything out of it.

Benefit Dew the Hoola £26

Hoola Bronzer has to be one of benefits most talked about products so I had high hopes for this liquid version. I only have the mini size but I will not be buying the full size. The product just doesn’t do much. I feel the colour is too light and doesn’t make much difference to the skin. However, this might be goof if you are trying to achieve a more of a natural look.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Cairo £6

After I’ve just hyped all of Nyx lip products I’ve now put this one in my fails. What are you doing Harriet??? The shade is far too light for me and when I swatched it I thought it would appear more natural on my face than it does. I’ve got other shades of the lip creams that I love but for some reason this one makes my lips really dry and the product really clings to dry patches. Aka not a good look. I’m really dissapoited by this product but It’s probably just my fault for buying a shade too light for me.

What products have you all been loving at the moment?

  1. I got the soap and glory eyeliner over a year ago and it has not been opened yet, I’m addicted to my usual Rimmel liquid liner and don’t even consider using any other one because its has the perfect tip. But I’m definitely going to try it out soon, so thank you for the reminder that I even still had it.

  2. This is a really super helpful post, thank you! I’m always so disappointed when I spend money on makeup that turns out to be less than great, so I’ll know which ones to avoid in the future! Although I know that it’s always different from person to person 🙂 The biggest fail for me recently has been the Sleek colour correct palette – it’s just WAY too bright and difficult to blend in. Idk, it might just be my skin!

    1. Thanks for your comment Millie! I’m glad you found it useful. It’s always so gutting when you buy a product and it just sucks! I haven’t tried that I’ll definitely be avoided it!

    1. I’ve got a mini size of it and I’ve been loving it its amazing. I’ve never tried e.l.f but I’ve heard such good things!

  3. I’m so obsessed with velvet teddy! It’s honestly the best colour and I feel like it suits a lot of skin tones! And the NYX soft matte lip creams are so amazing, they never dry my lips! My favourite one is in the shade Cannes, it’s just amazing.
I really enjoyed reading this post xx

  4. I always wanted to try NYX lip creams but now you’ve said this you have saved me money, haha! Buttttt I must say Mac Velvet Teddy is one my favourites too!! Absolutely love it! xx

  5. Great post! I completely agree with what you said about the makeup revolution strobe pallette. I also own the blush palette and that one’s just as bad. As much as I love their eyeshadows, I really don’t rate much else from their range anymore.
I’m currently loving Maybelline Lipfinity. It says it stays on for 24 hours, and I reckon it would definitely come close. It has more staying power than my mac and Jeffree star lipsticks combined, and it was about half the price!

    1. It’s so disappointing. I really rate their lipsticks as well as the eye shadows but everything else just isn’t as good. wow they sound amazing, I’ll have to give them a try.

  6. I’m not a fan of the NYX soft matte creams either, something about it throws me off. I think I actually got it in that same exact color too; Cairo. But Sandstorm is my absolute fave and has been for a while now. ALTHOUGH I just tried NYX’s Lip Lingeries and I think I’ve found my new love… Have you tried the lingeries before?

    1. I’m glad I’m not the only one that doesn’t get along with them! I haven’t tried them yet but I’m eager to, they look so good!

  7. I’ve been looking for a new liquid eyeliner and that soap and glory liner looks awesome, as eyeliner and mascara is pretty much all I wear It’s nice to see ones others have recommended 🙂 great post

  8. I’m obsessed with mac velvet teddy!!!😍🙌🏻 I find with cream highlighters they wipe my foundation off too!😩 Great post💕Xx

  9. Supercat eyeliner is my absolute go to! It stays on for the longest time and is such a good colour. I usually love Makeup Revolution but i’ve swatched this before and felt the same way. I’ve had so many disappointing highlighters recently where they look beautiful on my hand when swatched but loose all shine when applied to my face/cheek bone.

    Lovely read 🙂 xo

    1. After trying so many eyeliner it’s definitely my favorite. It’s so annoying when they look so good on your hand. I’m still searching for a good highlighter!

  10. I really enjoyed this post. I really don’t like NYX soft matte lip creams either! I’ve been loving my Jeffree Star liquid lipstick this month!

  11. I really enjoyed reading this post! I feel the same about the NYX lip creams. I have one and I love it and the colour but the product itself does not stay on for long at all and I seem to get dry patches too! I love this post girl xxx
